Writing is a practiced art. It’s been a long time since I’ve been here and I think it’s time to return.
To fill you in, I have a relatively new job. It’s an 8 am – 5 pm kind of job and I enjoy this new position. I work at an orthopedic specialists office and I am very busy there.
I also attend school. I am working towards a degree in Information Technology in Software Development. I go to school full time and I am near the end of the Associate’s Degree, but I plan to continue in the Bachelor’s Program. It is an intense program, so there’s a lot of research, homework, and projects to complete.
When I am not at work or in school, I am most often doing homework. On Saturdays, however, I spend one hour with a drum instructor. This is my down time. I really enjoy playing the drums. It’s something I’ve wanted to do all my life. Since I’m pretty sure we only live once, why wait?
I have my own electronic drum kit, so that I can also practice at home. ( The picture above is one of me sitting at my nephew’s drum kit). I don’t have a lot of time to practice, but when I do, I can kick out a few good rock songs and feel pretty good about it.
So you see, I’ve been very busy and I don’t plan to slow it down any time soon. However, since I’ve added school and drum lessons to my life, I’ve stopped writing. So I decided to spend the next two months writing a blog a day, just to gauge how much time I can make for this particular passion. In a sense, I am teaching myself to write, even when I feel too tired to write. It’s a necessary thing if I am ever going to call myself a writer.
I forewarn you, however, this will not be a two month session about flowers and entertainment. It was my aspiration in high school to become a journalist. I even had a four-year scholarship to a very good university. The journalist is still in me and it gets stronger every day. There are way too many things going on in the world to sit back and ignore them.
For the next two months, prepare to hear about the things that bother me on this planet, including babies left in cars in extreme heat, racism, ISIS, and other pet peeves of mine.
I would love to hear your comments, whether they are for or against my point of view. I am looking forward to this small slice of life right now, so join me if you dare.
Faithfully here, even when I’m not writing.
